GDS has a newly formed Intercessory Prayer Team with a remit to pray for continuing personal and corporate spiritual renewal within our church, and to see transformation in our community and in our nation. Our vision is to seek God’s revival in us and in our community, city and nation through waiting on Him and responding to Him in prayer. The group is open to all who feel this call to pray and carry a burden to pray for others.
We meet together to seek God’s heart for those around us by learning together how to wait on God and recognise His voice. We pray together as we meet, and commit to pray in the quietness of our own homes. We team up in pairs during the month to share what God is speaking to us about and inspire each other to keep going and keep growing.

In Bible times, cities had walls around them to help defend them from invading armies. Broken parts of the wall created a physical gap in the city’s ability to protect itself and left them vulnerable to attack.
In intercession, we are praying for people who are in need of help but are unable or unwilling to pray for themselves. Our prayers can bridge the gap and repair the breach between God and people who are cut off from God’s helping presence. When we stand in the gap in prayer, we ask for God’s mercy, intervention and/or forgiveness on behalf of individuals, groups of people or a nation.
Imagine a well-armed warrior standing fearlessly in the breach, forcefully repelling any enemy soldiers who try to enter through the gap in the wall. This is a visual picture of our role when we prayerfully stand in the gap through intercessory prayer.
God is looking for people who will step in and guard the broken, vulnerable territory in our lives.
Those from among you
Shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
